Steelseries Apex m800 The fastest mechanical keyboard

So I recently bought one of the most expensive background lit mechanical keyboard on the market. I got interested in this when I heard of it for the first time, so I decided to read a little bit more about it and look further into the keyboard to see if it's something to buy or not since it's pretty expensive.

Tech spec:

6 Macrobuttons
Dual processors
Low profile keys
Customizable background LED
2 USB 2.0 Hubs
Anti-ghosting support - which makes it possible for you to press 256 keys without a problem, as steelseries says there is not that many keys on the m800 so there is no need to worry about missing out in the heart of the battle.

The keyboard has 2 USB connectors which you have to connect to your PC, it probably needs two to power the dual processors. The reason to the dual processor quoted by steelseries is: "Your 600 APM would go to waste if the brains of the keyboard couldn't keep up" so they added another CPU that is dedicated to processing the key presses.

This keyboard doesn't run with the old cherry MX switches but uses steelseries own mechanical switches QS1. This is one of the reasons why it's the fastest keyboard on the market, the switches only have a 3mm throw depth, a 1.5mm actuation and only require 45 cN(centiNewton) actuation force which corresponds to a kilogram force of 0.046 which is not that much. But the depth of the switches are made to faster reactions and less effort. The keys doesn't need to go so deep before they react.

I bought the apex RAW keyboard steelseries gave out a couple of years ago and I really liked the low profile keys and the keyboard itself was really well built. Like the m800 you can feel that it is really solid with a quality build. The keys doesn't give the distinct feedback that the cherry MX switches does, but it still feels good and I really like the fact that it doesn't sound so much.

The steelseries engine 3 is a powerful software that allows you to design different light patterns and use existing profiles. The gamesense ability allows the keyboard to recognize different games and they have a specific layout depending on the game. I only say a minecraft mod, dota 2 and CS GO, I haven't looked further into this since this is more of my first reaction to the keyboard itself. I personally turned the gamesense off when I played cs go since it bothered me more than it was useful. The gamesense makes the keyboard show armor, HP and ammo at three different rows of the keyboard and they go down with the HP, armor and ammo, and I personally don't want to release my eyes of the screen to be disturbed by the keyboard but that is my personal opinion. I really enjoy the keyboard and I can feel all the thought in it.

If it's worth 199,99$? If you feel like you have that amount of money to spend on a keyboard I would say go for it! I really like it and since I just bought it I haven't tested all of the features yet but so far I really enjoy it.

For more info on the keyboard I recommend you visiting the product site that steelseries got in this link.

As always, enjoy gaming!

Xtrfy XG-M2 Gaming Mouse.

So I have not been updating for a while due to lack of spare time. But now I am back and hopefully I can keep up the updates. So recently I decided to abandon my old qpad 5k laser mouse, since it had started to go completely haywire on me, the sensor just stopped working for a couple of seconds. I really liked that mouse, it had a nice grip and an overall good impression on the build quality.

From what I have heard and read this is a pretty common problem with laser mices, the sensor are very dependent on the surface and the mousepad you are using. I tried 3 different mousepads, I thought it could be some problem with my motherboard but I had the same problem when I changed PSU, motherboard, CPU, RAM and GPU so there wasn't any strange powersurges from the PSU that made the mouse go haywire.

With all this tested I decided to pick up an optical mouse, as I am I sat down for several hours and several days to find a good mouse with a good sensor. Since one of the best sensors on the market is Pixard PMW 3310 and the absolute best sensor on the market is the PMW3366. So I knew what sensor I was looking for and could rule out a lot of mices. This resulted in three mices that I found interesting. Before listing the mices, yes I thought about the razer deathadder and the zowie EC2-A, but I am not buying gaming gear from razer since the experience I have from them is that the gear seems a little bit cheap, expensive but plastic. This is just my opinion and my experience with razer.

The zowie EC2-A is not available for buying at a local or a webstore near me. So that one got ruled out pretty quickly.

The Logitech G303 Daedalus Apex
This mouse have the best sensor on the market, the PMW3366. I was really looking into this one but there was one thing that really bothered me and that was the design. It just doesn't look that comfy to hold, and after reading and looking more into it this seemed to be the only flaw. Either you will love the design or you will hate it and since I didn't have any local store selling this I couldn't try one out. This one got ruled out because I didn't have the opportunity to try it. Since I play a lot of FPS games I have a couple of requirements and this mouse had some of those requirements, changeable DPI from 200 - 12 000 DPI (according to logictech's product site) this is actually very important for me since I used to run with the old intellimouse 3.0 and the DPI on that was around 400 and I haven't used a mouse where I haven't been able to put it at 400 DPI, running well on soft mousepads. The flaw this one had is the design, I couldn't see that I would like it without trying it and since I couldn't try it I didn't buy this one.

Overall this is mouse got one of the best sensors on the market, some of the pro CS GO gamers run with this mouse like: Shroud (Cloud9), Get_Right(NiP).

The Xtrfy XG M2
This mouse runs with the PWM 3310 sensor. The design resembles the Newmen GX1 Pro, this is not so strange since it seems to be some sort of rebranding. Can't really say for sure but the sensor is completely different in the xg-m2 than the GX1 Pro so it's not even almost the same mouse. The exterior resembles each other but as I said I think this is just a rebranding. Can't find any facts on this but that's what I have gotten from reading different forums in the search for a new mouse.

The fact that XG-M2 resembles the GX1 Pro has gotten a lot of users to go completely haywire and throwing away and idea of ever getting this mouse. There were a bit of problems with the first batch of mices so they had to stall the release date a bit. I read that it was a problem with the side buttons and that NiP wasn't really happy with the end result. My opinion to the design is that it resembles the old sensei a bit aswell and I enjoyed that design so this was something that caught my eye.

The shell is identical but the interior is very different.

Changeable DPI buttons on the top and a different colorscheme depending on what DPI you are having. Red is the lowest and Turquoise is the highest, the different DPI stages: 400/800/1600/3200/4000.

A good optical sensor and it runs well on a soft mousepad.

This one was available at a local store so I could try it out and see what it felt like.

Rival 300 Steelseries

This mouse runs with the PWM 3310 sensor, it's a pretty big mouse, got a good design, resembles the old intellimouse 3.0 a bit with the big design.

I don't really have much on this one but I had to have a third mouse so I see the differences between the different brands.

This mouse got the changeable DPI, a strong software for changing the DPI and tuning the different macro buttons.

It runs well on soft mousepads.

This was a really strong competitor for me until I read that the rubber sides wear out really fast and can leave a sticky mess behind. Since I am having sweaty palms while playing this was a big no for me.

Overall this is a good mouse I believe but since my hands are not designed for having that rubberized side I couldn't really go with this one.

Also available at a local store so I could try it and feel it.

Conclusion:

I went for the Xtrfy mouse after reading about it for a while and talking to a friend that have been using the XG-M2. These three mices are around the same pricetag that's why I took the three of them, around 60-65€ for them at my local stores. Converted to my currency it's 650 SEK.

Well I went and bought this mouse and the first thing I noticed is that it didn't really feel as well built as people said it was. So I starting feeling it a bit more and seems I got a bad mouse since the side was a little bit loose and it made a clicking noise when I pushed gently underneath the side buttons. I went back to the retail store and picked up a new mouse and this one felt really well built and I didn't have the clicking problem.

The mouse is working really well and is designed for a bit of a claw grip and not really for a palm grip. My hands are about 20 centimeters long and when I play I have sort of a claw grip and when I am just using the mouse for regular surfing and browsing I am using a palm grip so both definitely work.

Just for reference I have tried it on the steelseries QCK+, corsair gaming mm200 XL and the razer goliath. I think that mouse runs really well on all of those mousepads.

For more detailed spec of all the mices I suggested you visit their sites for these mices.
I will make a link for each of the three mices. Just click the name beneath to get directed to the tech sites.

Xtrfy xg-m2

Steelseries Rival 300

Logitech G303

I will probably buy the g303 just to try it out later. I am really interested in it but for now the xg-m2 is my weapon when playing.

I would recommend the Xtrfy mouse to everyone that is in need for a new optical gaming mouse. This is solely my personal opinion but I really enjoyed it and it fits my preferences very nicely.

As always, enjoy gaming!

Alien: Isolation

Steam summer sale strikes again and a game I wouldn't buy has been bought just because of the sale. I have been wanting this game for a very long time, but I have not really felt the urge to buy it until now.

First impression of the game was quite boring in my opinion. The atmosphere is nice and it feels scary but just going around doesn't really make me tickle. After the first encounter with the xenomorph (the perfect organism, alien or whatever you want to call it) the game intensifies and becomes a lot more fun. As the game progresses it becomes a lot more fun and if you have seen the movies it's very funny because there are some easter eggs in the game.

Before I even start to "review" this title I will say this. If you don't like stealth games then this game is probably not for you.

The game is about Ripleys daughter trying to find out what happened Nostromo so you are going to a station where the flight recorder is. To your surprise the stations is not working as it should and when the team that recovered the flight recorder got back it brought the parasites with them and hell broke lose.

I don't want to spoil because I really like the story of the game and the atmosphere really makes this game what it is. The AI of the xenomorph is really really bad sometimes, could just the difficulty that makes the AI stupid but you can hide in the open sometimes and the xenomorph just passes by you. Like the picture beneath, sometimes this works, but sometimes it doesn't.

Well I really enjoy this game so I would actually recommend it to everyone that is a fan of the alien movies.

Enjoy some screenshots:

Counter Strike: Global Offensive Bloodhound update

Now it is here the new update!

Bloodhoud is a new operation and with it a new update came, a leveling system so you can level up to different ranks. They don't have anything to do with the matchmaking ranks, it's just a profile level system, seems like it's based on the different ranks in the military. Every first level up each week gives the player a drop, here comes the tricky part, if you got bloodhound operation you can get drops from more collections than what you can without the operation pass. I hope I can clarify this for some people because me and my friends had a difficulty to see what you got for perks by having the operations.

I am thinking that the rank can have something to do with the chance for something good to drop, this is not fair for the casual players but sometimes developers do this to keep the hardcore gamers satisfied. A good example where developers focused more on the casual players is when blizzard released the latest expansions for World of Warcraft, it got from pretty hard and challenging to become very casual and easy in my opinion. I took this example since me and my friends played World of Warcraft on a higher level than casuals do and all of us ended up leaving the game. I am not meaning to say that casual players are bad this is just to clarify what happens to the hardcore players if you don't give them some sugar.

More updates are that the CS:GO engine have been updated to the latest steam API SDK and lots of other fixes I will provide a link to where you can read the entire update. This actually makes the game a lot funnier to play!! It's always fun when you have new stuff to do ingame.

Have fun and play safe!

Mortal Kombat X Latest Patch

I am a week late with the "latest" patch update, last week Netherrealm with the cooperation with HVS to make the PC port from consoles. For you who didn't know Netherrealm only developes console versions on their games and then WB hires a second company to make the game ported from console to PC.

Last week they released the patch that should fix the fps drop and bad performance, this patch made all the saved progress to be deleted from those who downloaded the patch. I didn't get the patch before they rolled it back. I did get it last week though and now they have added more options to the video settings. They have added v-sync if you got tearing, an fps fix (that in my opinion doesn't make anything. I am not having big troubles with the game I can enjoy it but some maps are completely unplayable still. This patch has NOT fixed the entirety of the problems, I still think that the game will need several patches just to work properly on mid range computers and not only on high end computers. For me the fps drops have been fixed but I have been fixing things the bios just to make some of my hardware better. You could download MSI afterburner and look at GPU and CPU usage to see if you got a bottleneck somewhere and overclock after that. MSI afterburner works for both Nvidia and radeon graphic cards.

The patch got released and so did Jason Voorhees from friday the 13th. So go out and try him out, he is really funny to play and he got very easy combos.

Killing Floor 2 - The Best Zed Survival Game

So this is the second game entitled killing floor from tripwire, I played the first game a lot and really enjoyed it. The way you play this game is very funny and it got some cool features to it.

Killing floor is a zed survival game, either you play alone or you play online/co-op. From what I have seen in this game they have different game modes. But I am used to the zed survival mode with different waves, the difficulty can be set from a various set of difficulties like hell on earth, normal and easy. The amount of waves can also be set, after you have beaten all waves you will fight the boss, he got several phases with different attacks and it's a good way to end the games with.

Killing floor 2 provides the perks that killing floor 1 also did, you play as a commander, medic, berserker or support(Se the provided picture below).

What they did in killing floor 2 that differs from the first is that the perks got higher levels and the medic class is not completely useless. You can actually get a lot of kills as a medic and the medic weapons are very fun to play with. I have not been trying any of the others since I wanted to try the medic. This game is still in early access and there are only 3 maps that are playable so I will wait with playing this until they have released some more maps. According to the dev you should be prepared for complete stats whipes during early access.

Tripwire have gone a long way with this game, it's complete graphic level up compared to many of the other games that they have developed. The game itself feels A LOT better than the other games they have developed like red orchestra/rising sun and killing floor. I am not saying that tripwires old games are bad, but they I don't get a good feeling when I play them. Killing floor 2 gives me a different sort of feeling, a feeling that the game is thought through and the developers actually took the credit from killing floor and made this game as good as possible.

I think killing floor 2 could be the game gem for tripwire, this game have been quite hyped around my friend circle.

They uploaded a movie where they interviewed the person that made all the movements for all the zed in this game, and just from that interview you can hear how much time they spent in making this game this good. The zed's doesn't move as if they were completely mindless, they got nice movements and I actually think it's quite creepy the way some of the zeds move.

I really enjoyed playing this game so I can't do anything else than to recommend this game. Bring your friends, it's time to slaughter zeds.

Some print screens of the game:

Mortal Kombat X FPS FIX UPDATE

I have now been having tremendous problems with the fps in mortal kombat x, even though I run it on a computer that is more than enough to run this game on.

The game itself is very bad optimized for the PC, only super high end computers run this without any problem. The AMD drivers are not running this game very well, the AMD developers are working on it last time I checked.

But if you suffer from FPS problems in Mortal Kombat X there are a couple of fixes that you can do. What I have learned by googling and watching several other peoples problem is that the game doesn't use the GPU (graphic processing unit) to max but uses only 1/3 of it. The game forces itself on your CPU(central processing unit) instead and makes it go to the maximum.

How to solve this and make the game run on the GPU instead is so go to video and put shadows to very low and everything else on high, set window boxing on OFF. In advance you should put motion blur to off.

Restart the game after you have changed anything in the video options since the game doesn't change it without a restart.

This helped me to play the game at a way better FPS, some maps are still terrible like sky temple and the krypt still lags. Hopefully NetherRealm will fix these problems soon so everyone can enjoy this good game.

UPDATE: After the patch that was supposed to fix everything this doesn't really cut it anymore, I am playing on maxed out graphics and are not having fps problems. This could possibly still change the fps for some players but I think they have fixed some of the problems.

Peace out!
